Oileán na Marbh Trail

A light walk around the tranquil Boat Strand fishing harbour while hearing stories of a children’s burial ground, nearby islands, a sunken forest and much much more.

The Eviction Trail

A light walk around Bunbeg while hearing stories of Lord Hill, Evictions, War of Independence, Famine Times and Land War, Court Sessions, Coastguards and Admirals and much much more.  Distance: 1.5 km, Duration: 1.5 hr.

 

 

Thoís cois na Trá Trail

A light walk ‘thoís cois na trá’ (down at the beach) and around Cill Bhríde Cemetery while hearing stories of a giant’s grave, an ancient turas or pilgrimage, holy wells, monastic settlement, Battle of the Atlantic, refugees, tsunami and much, much more. Distance: 1 km, Duration: 1 hr.

 

 

The Poitín Trail

A light walk around Carrickfinn while hearing stories of coastguards and excise men, hedge schools and education, island life, poets, seafarers and much, much more. Distance: 2 km, Duration: 1.5hr.

The Limekiln Trail

Hear stories of old Loughanure, its lime making industry, poets and authors, schools, and dancehall,  placenames, lake, the railway and much much more. Light walk, less than 2km,  Duration:1.5 hr.

A light walk to the 15th century battle site and stone fort at Loughanure. Hear about that battle and the place names associated with it while enjoying the view of three parishes. Distance 1.5 km. Duration: 1 hour.

The Armada Trail
